North Korea threatened an attack on the U.S. power grid using electromagnetic pulses to knock out electricity throughout America. The warning came directly from the state news agency.

Experts told Fox News that North Korea could actually pull off the attack by detonating a hydrogen bomb at high altitude, which would create an electromagnetic pulse, or EMP, that would knock out key infrastructure in parts of the United States.

North Korea has also threatened to hack our power grid and use a malware virus to drop our power grids throughout the United States.

“The biggest danger would be shorting out of the power grid, especially on the East Coast,” Harry Kazianis, director of defense studies at the Center for the National Interest, told Fox News. “Imagine a situation where large sections of the U.S. had no power.”

“Imagine New York or Washington D.C. with no power for just a week. The implications would be hard to fathom. The casualty rates would be off the charts,”

An EMP, something that appears more like Hollywood fiction like in “The Matrix” movies, can cause more damage at higher elevations, Fox News noted. A detonation at 250 miles, a distance of roughly of the International Space Station, could fry electronics in most of the U.S. along with parts of Canada and Mexico.

North Korea’s state news agency threatened the United States over the weekend, stating that North Korea will take out our power grids.

Their latest statements state that North Korea’s latest bomb, “is a thermonuclear nuke with great destructive power which can even be detonated at high altitudes for a epically powered EMP.”

DHS has acknowledged that the nuclear bomb that North Korea tested over the weekend, is very capable of knocking out more than 90% of our power grids.

“North Korea consistently exceeds our estimates of what we think they can do, so prudence might indicate we take them at their word,” noted Lieutenant General Wallace Gregson (USMC, Ret.), the former assistant defense secretary, now Senior Director of China and the Pacific at the Center for the National Interest. “The aim is to shut down our electrical grid and all the distribution networks – water, waste, financial, traffic management, air control, radio, computer, others – we depend upon.”

Most Americans are oblivious to just how vulnerable the United States power grid truly is. Currently, the Pentagon’s technology wing, the Defense Advanced Research Project Agency (DAFRA), is in the process of developing ‘alternative communication networks’ in the case of an attack on the grid.

DAFRA has tasked BAE Systems with producing this backup communications network for military and civilian use if the grid is fried.
The new technology would be able to move control of the grid to an alternative Secure Emergency Network.

This would mean that America could retaliate in the case of an attack.
However, DARPA’s Rapid Attack Detection, Isolation and Characterization Systems (RADICS) project remains in the early stages of development and would not likely to be ready for use until 2020.

Peter Pry, chief of staff for the Congressional EMP Commission, added:  ‘One of the things that’s new in the EMP world is the military doctrines of our potential adversaries.

“They don’t plan to come after us just with nuclear EMP — it’s a combination of all these threats: physical sabotage, cyberattacks and EMP.”

I don’t know about you, but I am sick and tired of being threatened by North Korea and simply seeing slap on the hand sanctions that are blatantly ignored.

God Bless.
