A Muslim owned and operated supermarket in Paris may be forced to close its doors in the upcoming weeks thanks to new pressure from Parisian officials.

The halal market in Paris has been ordered to begin selling pork and alcohol–two products that are forbidden by the religion of Islam. If it should continue to refuse it will be closed.
The “Good Prince” mini-mart is constrained by the conditions of its lease which declares the shop must be a “general provisions” food store.
By prohibiting the sale of certain products found at all standard markets in Paris, the owners of the Good Prince have found themselves in violation of their original signing agreement.
France, which has suffered 20 separate terrorist attacks since 2001 has seen one of the largest demographic changes in Europe.
Today. almost 1 in 10 residents of France is a Muslim — many of these Muslims come from third world nations in Northern Africa seeking employment in the West.
In socialist France, stores must “properly serve the local community,” or else risk having their licenses revoked. Of course, this would never happen in the United States, and thank God for that.
But, if it does have to happen somewhere, a halal Muslim-only supermarket in a foreign country is one hell of a place to take the hit.
The mayor of Colombes, the small city just outside of Paris where the shop resides, went to the shop herself to ask them to diversify their offerings.

The halal supermarket replaced another small supermarket on the site last year and Mr Besnard said older residents had complained they were no longer able to buy the full range of products once available.
“We want a social mix,” Mr Besnard added. “We don’t want any area that is only Muslim or any area where there are no Muslims.”
He said the town would have reacted in the same way had a kosher supermarket opened on the site.
“It’s business,” Soulemane Yalcin, the manager of Good Price, told Le Parisien. “I look around me and I target what I see.
