The halal market in Paris has been ordered to begin selling pork and alcohol–two products that are forbidden by the religion of Islam. If it should continue to refuse it will be closed.

The “Good Prince” mini-mart is constrained by the conditions of its lease which declares the shop must be a “general provisions” food store.

By prohibiting the sale of certain products found at all standard markets in Paris, the owners of the Good Prince have found themselves in violation of their original signing agreement.

France, which has suffered 20 separate terrorist attacks since 2001 has seen one of the largest demographic changes in Europe.

“We want a social mix,” Mr Besnard added. “We don’t want any area that is only Muslim or any area where there are no Muslims.”

He said the town would have reacted in the same way had a kosher supermarket opened on the site.

“It’s business,” Soulemane Yalcin, the manager of Good Price, told Le Parisien. “I look around me and I target what I see.
