The DPRK launched 2, “NO DONG” ballistic missiles according to U.S. STRATCOM, one of the missiles exploded right after launch while the other was tracked into the Sea of Japan.

Japan’s UN Ambassador, Koro Bessho made the following statement:

“The missile landed within Japan’s exclusive economic zone. There was no warning whatsoever, it is certainly a major, major problem for the security and safety of our region.”

Japan’s Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe stated that the DPRK latest launch is a, “grave threat to Japan and Tokyo strongly protests the launch,” Abe added the following to his public statement to the news reporters:

“Japans self-defense force would remain on alert in case of further defiant launches from the rogue nation.

The U.S. condemns the missile tests and reported that, it violates “multiple UN Security Council resolutions explicitly prohibiting North Korea from using ballistic missile technology.”

North Korea is prohibited from developing ballistic missiles under existing UN resolutions and despite the adoption of enhanced sanctions in the form of UNSC Resolution 2270 in March, the country has continued to breach sanctions and conduct missile tests.

China’s UN ambassador, Liu Jieyi, said, “If you look at the factors contributing to the tension in the Korean peninsula I think the answer is self-evident, the missile tests have expanded since the bilateral decision between Seoul and Washington to deploy a Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) battery to the region.”

China is the DPRK’s closest ally and they are essentially the, “Big Brother” that protects the DPRK as they see fit.   China blames the growing tension and threats of war on the U.S. and its military presence in the South China Sea as well as adding THAAD into the region.

Despite the DPRK’s growing threats and actions, the joint training between the U.S. Military and South Korea’s military, will go as planned this month.

As the Pacific once again becomes the focus of engagement, we find ourselves in a FUBAR situation.  We cannot pull out and bow to the tubby lil hobbit nor its big brother, China.  The U.S. responded to the DPRK’s aggression as well as China’s warning to its nation to prepare for war, by sending in the most experienced combat Bomber’s in our AF.

The B1 Lancer Bombers are due in Guam on Saturday at Anderson AF Base.  We will continue to monitor the Pacific closely and update you as soon as we can.
