CALIFORNIA – A shooting broke out Wednesday night at the famous biker bar Cook’s Corner which is located in Trabuco Canyon in Orange County.
According to reports 4 people were killed including the shooter.
The shooter is reportedly a retired police officer who was going through a brutal divorce with his estranged wife.
She is believed to the person that the shooter was going after.
She survived the attack and was reportedly shot in the jaw.
The suspected killer has been identified as John Snowling, a former sergeant who once served with the Ventura Police Department.
Snowling, who retired from active duty in 2014, was also among the casualties, as confirmed by the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.
In total, six individuals were rushed to hospitals, five of whom had suffered gunshot wounds.
Among the injured, two were admitted in critical condition, while the remaining four were reported to be in stable condition.
“Our hearts weigh heavy with the distressing incident at Cook’s Corner,” Ventura Police Chief Darin Schindler said in a statement. “Our deepest condolences are with the families of the victims, the survivors, and the Orange County deputies who swiftly responded to the scene. This incident deeply affects us all.”
Orange County District Attorney Investigators have been on scene throughout the night and today as we continue to investigate the officer-involved shooting by seven individual deputies that brought an end to the carnage at Cook’s Corner.
Our office is tasked with investigating officer-involved shootings in Orange County to review whether a crime was committed by the responding deputies who shot at the active shooter.
We know that 7 deputies fired approximately 70 rounds from handguns, rifles, and a shotgun at the suspect.
The District Attorney’s Office will continue to thoroughly investigate the officer-involved shootings according to our standard protocol and when the legal review is completed, we will issue the legal conclusions letter and video to the public as we do with every officer-involved shooting investigation.
Victim advocates from Waymakers, which are supervised by the District Attorney’s Office, are providing counseling and support for surviving family members, those who were wounded, those who witnessed the event and the Cook’s Corner community as a whole as they try to process their grief.
