Breaking News Out Of New Jersey- It’s Not Good

According to a report from Fox News, ten employees of the New Jersey Transit agency with connections to Gov. Chris Christie, recently received promotions and a few got raises, despite barely having the funds to keep its operation running.

Now, this wouldn’t be the first time Gov. Christie ran afoul of the people of New Jersey for abusing his power and authority. Remember the time he shut down a beach so he and his family would have it all to themselves?

Or how about BridgeGate? That should still be pretty fresh in people’s minds, right?

Anyway, here’s Fox with the details:

After reviewing months of legislative testimony, court documents and state employee salary data, and the Record of Bergen County, N.J., found that the 10 jobs all came with raises between $13,000 and $70,000.

The positions ranged from the agency’s chief of staff to those in charge of planning and procurement and disaster resilience projects.

According to the report, all but one of those promoted wound up making more than $100,000. The median salary for a state employee in 2016 was $72,953, the state Civil Service Commission said in its annual report.

The agency denies that any Christie allies were given special treatment over other state employees.

The report came as Christie — a two-term Republican who leaves office Jan. 16 because of term limits — has faced serious backlash after it became clear following the “Bridgegate” scandal that Christie loyalists were hired at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, allowing the administration to influence that agency’s operations.

Something certainly seems sleazy about all of this, right? Corruption is apparently something Christie is absolutely comfortable with and doesn’t appear to mind being associated with it as part of his legacy.

What makes it sort of obvious that the governor’s administration was responsible for these promotions and raises is the fact that New Jersey Transit has been in utter chaos and near ruin lately with frequent canceled and delayed trains and buses, equipment that doesn’t work, and a crash this fall that left one person dead and a hundred others injured.

As if that isn’t strange enough, there are also reports the agency dropped a whopping $4.4 million on office space in Newark that was barely used for two years.

There’s quite clearly some sort of problem with NJT and how they are spending tax dollars for them to be spending money like it’s coming off trees, but still not have enough to upgrade equipment they need to improve the quality of their service.

Gov. Christie is what we not-so-affectionately call a RINO, so it wouldn’t be all that surprising to find out he’s been giving out favors for those that help him and his administration accomplish their agenda.

However, he’s not the only state politician with his hand in the cookie jar and there’s plenty of Democrats who are helping to drain the system here who need to be held accountable as well.

An investigation into all of this will probably yield all kinds of evidence of corruption and misuse of funds. Guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
