BREAKING: Look What’s Happening In New Orleans RIGHT NOW- It’s REALLY Bad

The city of New Orleans cannot seem to stay out of the news and none of it seems to be positive.  The city has struggled since Hurricane Katrina and Mayor Mitch Landrieu has done the city much more harm than good.  The city most recently made headlines with its use of Communist tactics in the removal of Confederate monuments.  The city spent $2.1 million to destroy history in their attempts to erase the rich heritage that New Orleans once enjoyed, yet now it seems New Orleans cannot even supply its citizens with clean drinking water.

“We have lead service lines, a lot of them. We don’t know how many we have or where they’re located. Long term we need to replace all the lead pipes. There’s no other solution and that’s what everyone recognizes and it’s what has to happen,” said New Orleans Inspector General, Ed Quatrevaux.

But apparently, Mayor Landrieu’s office and the New Orleans Sewerage and Water Board are not doing much if anything to warn New Orleans residents about the risk according to the Inspector General.

Those lead service lines are part of the major infrastructure repairs currently underway to update the city’s aging streets and water system.  According to the IG’s report, replacing– or even “disturbing” those pipes– “can cause spikes in lead levels at the tap,” putting residents across the city in jeopardy.

“During an inspection of the Sewerage and Water Board’s water quality testing practices,” the report says, the Inspector General’s Office “became aware of an imminent risk to public health.”

Lead poisoning can affect the brain and nervous system when ingested.

In order to address this issue, the New Orleans Sewerage and Water Board needs $2.4 billion for necessary and much-needed infrastructure projects.  Funny, but it seems like the $2.1 million that y’all used to rip the city apart creating a massive racial divide and destroying history like the Communists and ISIS might have been better spent on addressing your infrastructure needs and supplying your citizenry with clean drinking water so they don’t suffer from LEAD POISONING!  Call me crazy I guess….

The board’s website is giving information on water quality and tips to reduce lead in drinking water to New Orleans residents.  This was posted in response to customer queries after the 2015 water crisis in Flint, Michigan. Flint is STILL dealing with the fallout of lead discovered in the drinking water after the city began tapping Flint River water as a source. The river water was not properly treated, leading to lead leaching from old pipes and fixtures.

This is clearly YET another need of power hungry political despots putting politics and divisive rhetoric over that of the health, wealth, and needs of those that elected them and pay their salaries.
