A Washington, D.C. Superior Court Judge approved a warrant Thursday morning seeking data from an anti-Trump website related to riots that occurred on and around Inauguration Day, The Federalist Papers reports.

At the hearing, Chief Judge Robert Morin said that DreamHost, the web hosting company for the site DisruptJ20.org, would need to turn over data about all the visitor to their website as part of an investigation into who organized the protests – many of which turned violent – during the inauguration of President Donald Trump.

Judge Morin said he will oversee the review of the data – there are more than 1.3 million IP addresses listed – and said that the government must explain what protocols it will use to make sure the data of “innocent users” is not seized by the authorities, Yahoo News reports.

AMERICA’S FREEDOM FIGHTERS reported that The Department of Justice has now formally requested that the web hosting firm ‘DreamHost’ turn over 1.3 million IP addresses and other information to ‘unmask‘ visitors to the anti-Trump Antifa website ‘disruptj20.org,’ as part of the investigation into crimes committed on or about January 20 by protesters. Many support this action due to mayhem, chaos, and out and out violence that ANTIFA has been wrecking throughout the nation. Dreamhost itself is fighting back with claims the scope of the data requested is overly broad and is a violation of the 1st and 4th amendments. However, many Americans believe this falls under “threats of violence” which is not protected by the first amendment.

The site is now down, but it was registered in October 2016 and an archived copy is available.

The group used the Twitter hashtag #DisruptJ20 by the “DC Anti-Fascist Coalition” to connect on social media with other Trump protesters.

The website provided mailing lists and organized planned meet-ups.  There was also a calendar of events as well as a multitude of online resources to help people prepare for the mayhem they planned to visit on the Inauguration events. The site also provided a ‘legal guide’ for those arrested as they were expecting trouble and committing arrestable offenses.

There is a court hearing scheduled for Friday of this week and court filings from DreamHost explain their reticence in complying with the subpoena for information.  The company filed a Motion of Opposition explaining – “That information could be used to identify any individuals who used this site to exercise and express political speech protected under the Constitution’s First Amendment.”

Many Americans believe the DOJ emphatically needs to find out who the people are that are responsible for the violent riots under the banner of ANTIFA, BAMN, BlackBloc, and others. However, it is a valid concern that to comply with a subpoena with such a wide scope of information demanded sets a dangerous precedent much in line with the concerns that Apple had with the DOJ demanded backdoor access to the iPhone in an effort to locate the San Bernadino shooter.

Asking for every person that has ever viewed a particular website can find all sorts of people and not necessarily all of them have ill intent, yet it sets the ground work for targeting for a government run amok to use for inconceivable evils down the road — how many of the 1.3 million were just curious? How many were journalists? How many were legitimate ANTIFA affiliated folks? I wrote about this site leading up to the inauguration. Am I on that list?

“In essence, the Search Warrant not only aims to identify the political dissidents of the current administration but attempts to identify and understand what content each of these dissidents viewed on the website,” said DreamHost General Council Chris Ghazarian in a legal filing opposing the request.

Given what we already know of the massive violations committed by the Obama administration with the unmasking of multiple thousands of Americans during the 2016 election, along with the NSA spying scandal, and a host of other damning evidence, the risk of potential government malfeasance is more than a theory.
