BREAKING NEWS Out Of MOSCOW

MOSCOW: Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) said Monday it had captured a gang planning major attacks on Moscow transport networks and shopping centers, directed by members of Daesh from Syria.

Security officers detained members of the group outside Moscow as they plotted “a series of terrorist attacks in crowded public places including on public transport and in major shopping centers in Moscow using suicide bombers and powerful explosive devices,” the FSB said.

It said it had determined that the attacks were being organized by Daesh warlords and emissaries who are in Syria, which it identified as T.M. Nazarov and A.M. Shirindzhonov, Arab News reports.

Media outlets in Tajikistan reported this month that a man named Todzhiddin Nazarov, also known as Abu Osama Noraka, had appeared in Daesh video statements from Syria posted on pro-jihad sites.

Two of the four arrested men were supposed to blow themselves up on Moscow’s transit system and in a shop, the FSB said in a statement.
As part of the arrests, officials also discovered a lab outside Moscow where improvised explosive devices were made, Daily Mail reports.

The intelligence agency said the attacks were directed by two senior militants who are fighting for ISIS in Syria, and hail from ‘the former Soviet Union’.

The suspects arrested outside Moscow were not identified, but the FSB said one of them is a Russian national and three others are from Central Asia.

Russia’s Rossiya 24 state television showed FSB footage of the raid on a house in which plainclothes officers are seen pinning two young men wearing black rucksacks to the floor and handcuffing them. It also showed what it said was equipment used to mix chemicals.

Their plans echo that of a  Russian citizen from the former Soviet state Kyrgyzstan, who detonated a bomb inside a St Petersburg metro train in April, killing 15 people.

Fifty were also injured in the blast as bodies, blood and wreckage were strewn across the carriage of the train blown up between Sennaya Ploshchad and Sadovaya metro stations in Russia’s second city.

Russian citizen Akbarzhon Jalilov, 22, who was born in Kyrgyzstan, was named by security services as the attacker who also planted a second device hidden in a fire extinguisher that failed to explode.

The bombing was claimed by a little-known group, the Imam Shamil Battalion, which experts say is linked to Al-Qaeda.

God Bless.
