On Tuesday morning President Donald Trump took to Twitter as he is prone to do asking why the National Football League (NFL) was receiving massive tax breaks and at the same time still disrespecting the national anthem, the nation’s flag, and the country.

He also asked to change the tax law to which Congressman Matt Gaetz responded with H.R. 296 also known as the Pro Sports Act, a bill designed to end the tax-exempt status of professional sports leagues.

By Tuesday afternoon NFL commissioner Roger Goodall was waiving the white flag of defeat making a mockery of his so-called principles with regard to the protest of whiny social justice warrior millionaire football players taking a knee during the National Anthem.

It seems Goodall’s sudden change of heart revealed that the only language the NFL understands is dollars and cents – not principles. If they did?

Domestic violence, rape, murder etc would be addressed, not fictional first world oppression some claim while wearing T-shirts bearing the likeness of brutal communist dictators to press conferences that killed the very people that those such as Colin Kaepernick claims he is trying to defend all while claiming its racism that is the issue.

So now Goodall has sent out a memo stating all players should “stand for the anthem” and it seems players are vowing to rise up against fans and the league. Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive lineman Gerald McCoy stated during Adam Schefter’s Know Them From Adam podcast states he believes there will “be an uproar” if NFL players are forced to stand for the national anthem.

McCoy stated in the interview –

“I don’t think guys are gonna like it. I think it’s gonna be an uproar if that is to happen because you’re basically taking away a constitutional right to freedom of speech. If guys wanna have a, I guess you would call it a peaceful protest, I don’t think it’s right to take that away.”

McCoy was also quick to point out that he has not knelt during the National Anthem and he does not intend to start, however, he does support players’ right to peacefully protest. At this time, the Buccaneers have not declared a specific rule or policy regarding the anthem.

THIS is why many Americans now view the NFL with such contempt and THIS is why we stand…

McCoy went on to state –

“I had two teammates who did it, in Mike Evans and DeSean Jackson. That’s their right to do that,” McCoy said. “And if they’re gonna do it, they’re gonna have support of the whole team but if you take that away from them, there’s gonna be an uproar. It’s just gonna happen, because now it’s just like you have a voice at one point, but then you don’t at this point. And, that’s our right … it’s a constitutional right that we have, and if you take that away, I don’t think people are gonna take too kindly to it.”

According to ESPN –

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said Sunday that any Cowboys player who disrespects the flag will not play. The Dolphins also implemented a new policy that players on the field or sideline must stand during the anthem, although they also have the option of remaining in the locker room or the tunnel until the anthem is finished.

On Wednesday, Detroit Lions safety Glover Quin, the team’s NFLPA representative, didn’t want to talk much about Jones or potentially being required to stand for the anthem.

He did say, however, that when the NFLPA responds to this, the message will be clear.

“The message will be put out,” Quin said. “The message, it will be out. Clearly.”

Jacksonville Jaguars linebacker Telvin Smith was asked Wednesday if he agrees that kneeling has taken away from the meaning and goal of the protest process.

“I will say — and this is my only comment on it — the oldest trick in the book is divide and conquer,” Smith said. “So I think the people, the outside forces that be have done a great job of coming in and putting those lines and barriers there to make it a conflict. I think it’s being made to be conflict when it’s not the case. But again it’s to divide and conquer, so oldest trick in the book.”

Goodell made it clear in a letter sent Tuesday to all 32 teams that he wants players to stand during the anthem. He did not provide specifics about how he intends to ensure it occurs, however.  He wrote in his letter it would “include such elements as an in-season platform to promote the work of our players on these core issues.” NFL ratings and ticket sales are tanking as Americans continue to wage a peaceful protest of their own in choosing to turn off, tune out, and refuse to participate in the NFL’s antics.  Many believe this is what prompted Goodall to send the memo pushing team owners to crack down on their players with regard to their conduct during the national anthem.
