Amid all the hatred and racism running rampant due to this divisive administration and it’s lapdog media, professional athletes and other celebrities are given a platform to speak due to their fame and notoriety.

They have a voice that can be heard by many and that voice can be used to effectuate much positive change and do many positive things.  It can also be destructive and assist in fueling hatred and anger in an already contentious situation. These people have a choice – to use that platform for good or for ill.

Isaiah Crowell, running back for the Cleveland Browns, chose to use his platform to fuel the hatred and anger of the contentious situation surrounding the deaths of Alton Sterling and Philandro Castile and the officers that were targets in Dallas as a result of those events, yet had nothing to do with either one.

Crowell posted this picture to his Instagram account with the caption reading – “Mood: They give polices all types of weapons and they continuously choose to kill us…#Weak.”  Crowell posted the image after the killings of Alton Sterling and Philandro Castile, but prior to the killings of the five police officers in Dallas last Thursday, reports Cleveland.com.

He apologized on Monday, July 11, 2016, and issued a public statement via Twitter saying,

Crowell has played two seasons in the NFL with the Browns. He led the team in rushing last season with 706 yards.  Neither the NFL nor the Browns have commented on the matter.
