The Obama regime has booted out 35 Russian diplomats and closed two Russian compounds in New York and Maryland in retaliation for “unconfirmed” Russian hacking as of Thursday.  Now Wikileaks has released a series of tweets giving indications that Obama may have violated the Vienna Convention by expelling the Russian diplomats. Obama’s actions were retaliation for the so-called Russian hacking of the 2016 Presidential election.

President-elect Donald Trump could also reverse President Barack Obama’s executive order.  This would allow Russian intelligence officials back into the United States once he takes office.  The Obama regime is digging their heels in though.  This is their story and they are sticking to it!  Obama regime officials state that there is no reason to believe Russia will cease interfering in U.S. and other countries’ elections in a conference call after the president announced sanctions against Moscow on Thursday.

One official stated, “We believe these steps are important because Russia is not going to stop. We have every indication that they will interfere in democratic elections in other countries, including some of our European allies.”

Russia had been considering expelling 35 U.S. diplomats from Russia in retaliation to Obama’s recent move expelling diplomats and imposing sanctions on Russia.  However, now we’re learning that Russian President Vladimir Putin has said they will NOT expel any U.S. diplomats. Putin seems to be biding his time and waiting for the new incoming Trump administration before he makes a call.

It does not appear that there will be any Russian retaliation… at least for now.

What is interesting is that the American people and Russia have repeatedly demanded proof of these so called Russian hacking allegations so in conjunction with Obama’s announcement regarding sanctions against Russia, the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security have published a 13-page report into the Russian hacking allegations.

The report provides no evidence that the hacking was the work of Russian intelligence agencies.  It merely states it as a fact

“The U.S. Government confirms that two different RIS actors participated in the intrusion into a U.S. political party.”

Even the Guardian has been forced to admit that this is all thin stuff.

Security experts on Twitter criticized the government report as too basic. Jonathan Zdziarski, a highly regarded security researcher, compared the joint action report to a child’s activity center.

Tom Killalea, former vice-president of security at Amazon and a Capital One board member, wrote: “Russian attack on DNC similar to so many other attacks in past 15yrs. Big question: Why such poor incident response?”

The two “actors” in question are the two groups of hackers known as Cozy Bear and Fancy Bear.  It has been pointed out previously, that claims of these two groups of hackers acting for Russian intelligence are based purely on inference with no hard facts behind it.  There is nothing in this report that substantiates this claim or remotely resembles hard facts to support it.

Interestingly the NSA, the branch of US intelligence which has presumably the greatest expertise in the area, and which has the most information about it – is not a co-author of the report.  I wonder why?
