Obama Tried To Sneak One Last GIFT To Muslims- Trump FIRES BACK In Best Way Possible

In one last parting shot at Israel as he was leaving office, Obama released $221 million of American taxpayer funds to the Palestinian Authority (PA).

Congress is now blocking those funds and the Trump administration has frozen the funds indefinitely.  At least two Republican lawmakers— Ed Royce (R-CA), the chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, and Kay Granger (R-TX), who sits on the House Appropriations Committee, are leading the charge in placing a hold on the funds allocated for PA.

Granger and Royce placed the holds on the funds after PA made moves to seek membership in international organizations. Congressional holds are generally respected by the executive branch but are not legally binding after funds have been allocated.

Granger released a statement Tuesday saying –

I am deeply disappointed that President Obama defied congressional oversight and released $221 million to the Palestinian territories. I worked to make sure that no American taxpayer dollars would fund the Palestinian Authority unless very strict conditions were met. While none of these funds will go to the Palestinian Authority because of those conditions, they will go to programs in the Palestinian territories that were still under review by Congress. The Obama Administration’s decision to release these funds was inappropriate.”

US officials conveyed to PA Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah on Tuesday that the funds were not expected to be handed over in the immediate future, said the source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

The State Department is now in the process of reviewing the last minute decision by former Secretary of State and Palestinian sympathizer, John Kerry, to determine on what basis Kerry authorized this gift to the Palestinians. Kerry only formally notified Congress on Friday morning that the State would release the money just hours before President Donald Trump took his Oath of Office.  The department said it would look at the payment and might make adjustments to ensure it comports with the Trump administration’s priorities.

The Obama administration had for some time been pressing for the release of the money for the Palestinian Authority, which comes from the US Agency for International Development, known as USAID, and was supposedly for humanitarian aid in the West Bank and Gaza to support political and security reforms, as well as help prepare for good governance and the rule of law in a future Palestinian state.

Even without the $221 million, the Palestinian source noted that in 2016 the PA received $250 million from the US government. These funds included $180 million from USAID, $25 million to support Palestinian hospitals and $45 million to pay for fuel purchased from Israel.

When President Trump was questioned about the transfer, White House Press Secretary, Sean Spicer, conveyed the following statement –

“Trump is very concerned about how taxpayer money is spent, whether it’s sent overseas and what we get for it in terms of the relationship or our support for a democracy or aid to another country for their defenses. But he’s going to be examining all aspects of the budget… He’s going to make sure that every deal, every dollar that is spent by the government is done in a way that respects the American taxpayer.
