Sassy Liberty AMERICA’S FREEDOM FIGHTERS –

In the state with some of the most permissive abortion regulations in the nation, where abortion is available literally up until birth and more than half of abortions are funded by tax payers, Oregon has set a new low. Oregon lawmakers are now presenting a bill that would set aside $500,000 in tax payer funds to pay for the abortions of illegal immigrants.

H.B. 3391, the Reproductive Health Equity Act, would allocate $10.2 million to the Oregon Health Plan, the state’s Medicaid program.  These tax dollars would then be used to pay for abortions and reproductive services for women who would be eligible “except for their immigration status.”

Of that $10.2 million roughly $500,000 would be earmarked for abortions for illegal aliens.

This bill was developed working hand in hand with Planned Parenthood and other pro-eugenics groups.  It would also require private insurance companies to provide abortions to their customers free of charge – no objections be they religious, moral, or otherwise are available.

Since 2002 Oregon tax payers have foot the bill to the tune of nearly $24 million for more than 52,000 abortions.  Oregon’s Governor Kate Brown is a former abortion rights lobbyist and the bill is currently on her desk awaiting signature.  The Oregon House has already approved.

The advocacy director for Planned Parenthood Advocates of Oregon, Laurel Swerdlow, states the bill guarantees access to abortion on demand for every Oregonian no matter  “where they live or how much money they make or who provides their health insurance.”

For years pro-life groups like Oregon Life United have tried to get a ballot measure on the docket that will allow Oregonians to vote to bar taxpayer dollars from being used to finance abortions.  Now with the Reproductive Health Equality Act, Shannon Henshaw of Oregon Life United believes the ballot measure has a real opportunity to pass.  A petition for the ballot measure is circulating and it currently boasts between 40,000 and 50,000 signatures.  It needs roughly 117,000 in order to make it on the 2018 ballot.

Henshaw states –

“I think a lot of people were already concerned about the number of abortions in the state that are paid for by taxpayer dollars and because H.B. 3391 is so extreme, I think it’s generated some additional fervor to put a stop to that.”
