“What’s a better way to remember 9/11 than with the Twin Tower Mattress Sale,” Cherise Bonanno asks before beginning to mock the deaths of thousands.

Area mattress store creates commercial to advertise sale on September 11th.  The advert mocked the deaths of those that died during the terrorist attack in 2001.

The 30 second commercial begins with Ms. Bonanno introducing the premise of this sale — in honor of the Twin Towers, all mattresses at Miracle Mattress would be sold at the cost of a twin mattress.

The goofy jesters to her left and right ask repeatedly if this also applies to king and queen mattresses to which Bonanno replies in the affirmative.

It’s at this point that the viewer might notice there are two very conspicuous “towers” of mattresses staked behind the three employees of Miracle Mattress.  They are meant to represent the Twin Towers, and the two men on either side of Cherise throw themselves into the stacks pretending to be planes.

The store has since received numerous complaints, condemnations and death threats.  They have cancelled their sale and plan to remain close for the remainder of the weekend.

September 11th has become a time of somber reflection for the past 15 years.  For most–even for those that were born after or too early to remember the fateful day–the day is an inescapable blemish, a cruel and constant reminder that comes knocking every autumn.

For Miracle Mattress, a mattress company in Austin, Texas, the tragic events that unfolded on that September morning are nothing more than a way to make a few extra bucks this fall.

The Cherise Bonanno, daughter of Miracle Mattress owner Mike Bonanno, is the manager of the company’s Austin location.  According to local sources, Ms. Bonanno approached her father about creating some sort of publicity project in order to strum up some early Fall business.  With her father’s go ahead, the daughter began drafting the film to advertise their upcoming sale.

She wanted it to be funny, so Cherise decided to make fun of the deaths of thousands.
