Dean James AMERICA’S FREEDOM FIGHTERS –
German police reported that they have arrested nine drug trafficking suspects, including four suspected Islamist militants, in early morning raids in Berlin Wednesday.
The police said they have already issued arrest warrants for three of the arrested and the other one will be brought for investigation.
They were allegedly “violent Islamists,” local media Focus Online reported, citing the police and prosecutors.
The Berlin Police as well as some special forces carried out an anti-drug operation early Wednesday, raiding six targeted addresses in four different districts of Berlin.
Police seized electronic devices, drugs and weapons.
A total of 9 people were taken into custody, among them, the four Islamists.
The raid was made at a time when Berlin state government was under public pressure. Earlier in May, German interior ministry pointed out that Berlin government could have prevented last year’s terror act on Berlin’s Christmas market, which killed 12 people and injured over 50.
The arrests were made just a day before former US president Barack Obama was due to address crowds at the four-day Kirchentag festival, alongside German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

It was disclosed that Berlin had sufficient evidence to arrest the attacker, Anis Amri, on drug charges weeks before he drove his truck into the crowds but chose not to.
Instead police later claimed Amri had just been a small-scale drug trafficker.
They screwed that one up good.
