CAIRO, EGYPT — Egyptian police have killed two members of an Islamic militant group loyal to the outlawed Muslim Brotherhood, the Interior Ministry said in a statement.

The ministry said the militants belonged to Hasm group, which claimed responsibility for a number of terrorist attacks that killed several policemen in Egypt, referring to the group as the Muslim Brotherhood’s armed wing.

The police raided their hideout in a farm in Qalioubiya province near Cairo, killing them in a shootout, the ministry said.

Over the past few months, the Egyptian police killed tens of militants in similar raids in Giza, Cairo, Ismailia, North Sinai and other provinces across the country, Xinhua Net reported,

Egypt has been fighting growing terror activities after the military toppled ousted president Mohamed Morsi in July 2013 in response to mass protests against his one-year rule and his Brotherhood group.

Terror attacks in Egypt used to be centered in North Sinai before spreading nationwide and killing hundreds of policemen and soldiers over the past few years.

Meanwhile, security raids killed hundreds of militants and arrested a similar number of suspects as part of the country’s anti-terror war declared in 2013 by President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi, the army chief then, following Morsi’s removal.

Pure insanity.

God Bless.
