Liberals have been trying to get the phrase “under God” removed from our Pledge of Allegiance for years now. And most of us recognize such attacks as symbolic of the deterioration of Christianity and morality in our government today. But with a president like Barack Obama, we shouldn’t have expected anything better.
Obama’s agenda has been anti-Christianity from the start. And his administration has continued to carry out his orders, breeding a culture that says we should all be politically correct and not express our faith. In Rev. Franklin Graham’s opinion, Barack Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder have simply turned their backs on God, leading other members of government to follow their example.
But we’re not surprised that President Obama isn’t an advocate for traditional Christianity, especially considering how Michelle admitted last week that she and her family use Sundays for napping instead of church-going. But while our country’s leadership seems to have no respect for traditional Christian values, the majority of American people still care. In fact, a new poll shows that most of us still support keeping “under God” in our Pledge of Allegiance.
The Baptist Standard reports:
Researchers found one in four Americans (25 percent) believe forcing students to say “under God” violates their rights. But less than one in 10 (8 percent) Americans want to remove “under God” from the pledge.
The survey results show little support for changing the pledge, said Scott McConnell, director of LifeWay Research.
“Most Americans have recited the pledge hundreds of times and are not inclined to memorize a different pledge,” he says. “Changing it may just feel wrong. Most Americans say they believe in God or a higher being and feel comfortable having ‘under God’ in the pledge.”

It’s comforting to know that despite how upsetting it is to see our nation’s leaders turning their backs on God, the American people have not completely forgotten him. And as long as enough of us keep God a priority in our lives and in the lives of our children, we will continue to stand strong and protect our faith from the liberal agenda.
