BOOM! The FBI have arrested a scumbag New York sports radio talk show host at his Manhattan home Wednesday for alleged involvement in running a fake ticket scam.

Craig Carton, 48, the co-host of “Boomer and Carton” which airs on the CBS-owned WFAN radio station, was arrested early Wednesday for duping investors out of $5.6 million to cover his staggering gambling debts, authorities said.

Carton, 48, and business partner Joseph Meli are accused of running a Ponzi scheme in which they used funds from new investors to repay earlier investors and other debts, according to the complaint filed by the US Securities and Exchange Commission, New York Post reported.

Together, Carton and Meli, a 43-year-old event promoter, ripped off at least $3.6 million from two investors, while on his own, Carton misappropriated another $2 million from one of the same two investors.

Authorities said Meli used the stolen funds to purchase a $3 million home in East Hampton for cash.

Meli’s wife, Jessica Ingber Meli, and his mother, Anna Meli, were also charged.

The two solicited investments in ticket reselling enterprises they claimed bought tickets to Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, Roger Waters, Metallica, Barbra Streisand and Adele shows and resold them at huge profits.

Daily News reports that the motor-mouthed Carton turned to crime after running up millions of dollars in losses with two casinos, plus a debt of $825,000 to an unidentified individual, court papers charged.

Carton and co-defendant Michael Wright were both charged with securities fraud, wire fraud and conspiracy. The two could face a maximum of 45 years in prison and fines running into millions of dollars.

Both were ordered released on $500,000 personal recognizance bond after an afternoon court appearance. The typically boisterous Carton, a scruffy stubble on his face, stood silent and stoic during his appearance.

“Behind all the talk, the Carton and Wright show was just a sham, designed to fleece investors out of millions ultimately to be spend on payments to casinos and … other personal debt,” said U.S. Attorney Joon Kim.

Wright, wearing a turquoise T-shirt and blue gym shorts, held his head in his hands before the Manhattan Federal Court hearing began.

A 26-page Securities and Exchange Commission filing accused Carton of lying to his investors, going as far as to send phony documents and e-mails to his unsuspecting business partners.

“Carton’s deceit did not stop with providing fake documents … When (one investor) made its $2 million investment, Carton misappropriated the money by lying,” according to the court papers.
NBC New York reported that Carton and another man were reportedly running a non-existent business that sold fake discounted tickets.

The pair made their money by ripping off investors, according to NBC New York.

Carton’s popular radio program, which he co-hosts with former NFL quarterback Boomer Esiason, has been on air since Sept. 2007.

CBS released a statement saying: “At this point in which we are going to cooperate with authorities and we have nothing further to add.”

The married father of four allegedly forged documents showing purported ticket-sale “agreements” between his and Meli’s entities and concert promoters — when none actually existed.

Carton, who was arrested at his Tribeca home, is one half of the popular “Boomer and Carton” sports radio show on WFAN along with former Bengals quarterback Boomer Esiason. The show has been on air since 2007.

Esiason was mum on Carton’s arrest on Tuesday’s show but took a couple of digs at his co-host for texting that he was “under the weather.”

“If you hear me starting the show, that means numb nuts is under the weather and he’s not here. And basically what will be the longest week,” Esiason said.

Carton generally kicks off the 6-to-10 a.m. morning show.

Esiason continued complaining about his packed scheduled this week, quipping, “My partner decides, ‘Oh, I don’t know, I don’t want to show up this morning because I don’t feel good’” — though it’s unclear whether he was actually aware of Carton’s arrest.

Esiason and his fill-in co-host then joked that Carton had a “Yankee flu” following the Bombers’ 7-6 loss to the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday night.

But later on during the show, Esiason took a moment to address Carton’s arrest.

“By the way, just a little bit of an announcement,” he told listeners. “I am now aware of why Craig was not here this morning. Unfortunately he was arrested this morning. We here at the station, they’re aware of it as well. They’re cooperating with authorities. I’m taken aback and surprised by it just like I’m sure everyone else is.”

LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

God Bless.
