Over the weekend, Senator Rand Paul was attacked at his Bowling Green, Kentucky home by a neighbor, and now we’re learning just how vicious the assault was.

The left-stream media has been reporting that his injuries were “minor” and that the attack happened due to an ongoing dispute between Paul and his neighbor, 59-year-old Rene Boucher, but it turns out that neither were true. In fact, Sen. Paul suffered “life-threatening” injuries from the attack, and the FBI is now saying that it wasn’t related to a feud, but instead Mr. Paul’s political beliefs.

So another violent leftist attacked a conservative lawmaker, to put it simply.

From the Associated Press:

A senior adviser for Rand Paul says the U.S. senator is recovering from five broken ribs following an assault at his home.

Doug Stafford said it is unclear when Paul will return to work since he is in considerable pain and has difficulty getting around, including flying. Stafford said Sunday that the broken ribs include three displaced fractures, which can lead to life-threatening injuries. The severe pain can last for weeks or months.

Boucher was arrested on Saturday and charged with misdemeanor fourth-degree assault with a minor injury. However, in light of recent updates regarding Mr. Paul’s injuries, those charges could be upgraded by prosecutors.

Fox News reported that Mr. Paul’s advisor, Doug Stafford, said the Senator is in “considerable pain” and may not be returning to work any time soon because he’s having a difficult time getting around.

“This type of injury is caused by high velocity severe force,” Stafford told Fox.

As we previously reported, Sen. Paul was attacked from behind by Boucher.

“Senator Paul was blindsided and the victim of an assault,” Kelsey Cooper, a spokeswoman for Paul, said in a statement to The Hill. “The assailant was arrested and it is now a matter for the police. Senator Paul is fine.”

Boucher was released late Saturday on a $7,500 bond, with a court date scheduled for Thursday. When the AP reached out to him, Boucher declined to comment on the attack.

According to WKNY, a local Kentucky news outlet, the FBI said the attack was politically motivated.

On Sunday, Sen. Paul released a statement in which he thanks everyone for their support, and stated he and his wife were grateful “after Friday’s unfortunate incident.”

Just like the shooting that nearly claimed the life of Congressman Steve Scalise, this politically motivated attack can be directly attributed to the incendiary language and constant dehumanization of the left’s political opposition. Ideological extremists are taking things entirely too far, and now believe it’s okay to physically harm others based solely upon their political beliefs.

Unfortunately, as the left continues to escalate its violent, toxic rhetoric while normalizing violence and hatred, attacks like this against political opposition are going to become more frequent.

For everyone’s sake, it’s time to take things down a few notches, lest we find ourselves in the middle of another civil war.

Get well soon, Sen. Paul. We patriots have your back 150 percent!
