After almost a year of investigating, special counsel Robert Mueller has yet to find any evidence of President Trump’s campaign colluding with Russia, but that’s not stopping this witch hunt.

In fact, while many people believe Mueller needs to wrap this thing up already and finally admit there’s no there there, he appears to be ramping up his efforts against the President.

According to The Hill, since Mueller hasn’t been able to find anything related to Russian collusion between Trump and his team, he’s now broadening the scope of his investigation to include anything related to Russia at all, and he issued a subpoena demanding information based on some keywords his team came up with. The move comes as a surprise to those close to Trump, as they said they’ve been cooperating fully with the investigation so they don’t see a need for Mueller to subpoena documents, but that’s not stopping the political hitman, apparently.

More from The Hill:

The Wall Street Journal reports that Mueller’s team issued the subpoena in mid-October, requesting documents and emails from more than a dozen top campaign officials that include several keywords related to Russia.

A source familiar with the matter told the Journal that the subpoena would not compel testimony before a grand jury, but that Trump’s campaign was surprised by the order after voluntarily cooperating with previous requests from Mueller’s team.

Trump’s campaign began turning over documents to Mueller in September, with one lawyer that represents Trump saying the campaign was in “total cooperation” with the special counsel’s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.

The shocking move marks the first time that Trump’s campaign has been officially ordered to turn over information to Mueller’s team, although individual members of Trump’s campaign have been subpoenaed on the investigation. However, this should indicate to everyone the direction Mueller is heading, and it’s not looking good for President Trump or those supporting him since Mueller appears to be a man on a mission.

Oddly enough, while Mueller’s investigation is supposed to focus on Russian interference in the 2016 election, it appears to be directed at everything but. Former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort has already been indicted on charges unrelated to the election, and so far there’s been no word on whether or not Mueller has looked into the Democrats’ deep ties to Russia.

In fact, we’ve now learned that Hillary Clinton and the DNC both funded the infamous “Russian dossier,” which was full of slanderous and salacious allegations, and was also a product of the Kremlin, yet there hasn’t been so much as a peep about whether or not Mueller is doing anything about it. That’s not to mention, Hillary’s campaign worked closely with the Ukrainian government to affect the election’s outcomes, and there’s reports surfacing that she’s trying to pay the Russians again for a second dossier on Trump.

So while Mueller’s mandate may be to investigate Russian interference, it’s becoming abundantly clear he really only has one job and one job only – find something, anything, that’s grounds for removing the 45th President of the United States from office.
