North Korea’s latest missile test on Sunday was the country’s most successful yet, according to analysts, who say Pyongyang may now have a weapon capable of hitting a key US military base in the Pacific.
North Korean state media KCNA claimed that the apparently new Hwasong-12 missile reached an altitude of 2,111.5 kilometers (1,312 miles)

U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley warned Sunday that the international community will “continue to tighten the screws” around the North Korean regime. She told ABC’s “This Week” that Kim is “in a state of paranoia.”
Meanwhile, U.S. officials are looking at taking precautions. Sen. Dan Sullivan, R-Alaska, is planning to introduce a measure this week to add another 28 ground-based interceptors in Alaska and California and authorize additional missile-defense testing, Fox News is told.

As AFF has been reporting, tensions between North Korea and the U.S. have escalated for a lot of reasons.
North Korea threatened to “ruthlessly punish” U.S. citizens that they have unlawfully detained. Four Americans have been detained.
The dangerous threat comes on the heels of the announcement that they detained a fourth U.S. citizen for unspecified “acts of hostility aimed at overthrowing the country.”

The State Department was unable to comment specifically on the cases of the four Americans who have allegedly been arrested by the North Korean government.
“In regards to reports of recently detained U.S. citizens,” the State Department said, “we have no further comment due to privacy considerations.”
Also, Congress overwhelming voted to impose new sanctions on N.Korea for their continuous missile launches, which they aren’t happy about.
The committee of the North’s Supreme People’s Assembly denounced the sanctions as “the most heinous act against humanity that not only infringes upon the sacred sovereignty of (North Korea) but also arbitrarily violates universal principles of sovereign equality and non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries which run through the United Nations Charter.”
And, North Korea accused U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and South Korean intelligence services of plotting to assassinate dictator Kim Jong Un with a “biochemical substance.”
