An arrogant sailor who filmed herself refusing to stand for the National Anthem got some bad news and is now facing administrative action.

Hope Hodge Seck at Military.com reports that Lt. Cmdr. Kate Meadows, a spokeswoman for Naval Education and Training Command, said actions were ongoing regarding the sailor, but declined to specify what they were.

The sailor, who has not been publicly identified, is assigned to Naval Air Technical Training Center in Pensacola, Florida, Meadows confirmed, but is expected to be allowed to continue training.

The command became aware of the filmed protest Aug. 31, Meadows said.

Navy rules state that troops must stand and face the flag when the National Anthem is played. Troops in uniform must salute, while troops not in uniform must stand at attention and place the right hand over the heart. These rules mean that her behavior could fall afoul of Article 92 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice, failure to obey a lawful general order or regulation.

At issue is an eight-and-a-half minute video posted to Facebook in which the sailor sat through morning colors in protest of the now-defunct third stanza of the National Anthem, which she described as racist. (FACEBOOK TOOK THE VIDEO DOWN BECAUSE THEY ARE COMMUNISTS)

The video has been widely shared and was viewed more than 13,000 times after being re-posted to a military humor page, US Army Military Police WTF Moments.

She remained seated and raised a fist to show solidarity with the Black Power movement. How wonderful.

Afterward, she delivered a spiel praising San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick for his pouting, stating that it made sense for him to not stand in honor of “a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color.”

“(The stanza) basically says land of the free, home of the brave, except for hirelings and slaves and I just can’t support anything like that,” she continued, referring to the national anthem. “I think Colin had a really good point when he said we had bodies in the streets.”

That might make sense if we still lived in the 1960s, or maybe the 1860s, but over 50 years have passed since that sad era in American history.

The nation isn’t perfect, but when we have a two-term black president, a black attorney general, a black Homeland Security secretary, black secretaries of Education and Transportation — you get the idea — the “systematic racism” claim starts looking pretty weak.

Regardless, when this sailor signed up to serve in defense of her country, she took an oath to the very same flag that she now views with disdain.

It was also the same flag that afforded her the opportunity to join the military and make something out of her life in the first place.

Should she be kicked to the curb?
