U.S. President Obama continued his disgraceful and shameful efforts with his trip to Vietnam this week in Hanoi and Saigon.  Obama is pushing for the U.S. Military to cooperate and train with the Vietnam Military. This is part of Obama’s re-balance of U.S. forces to the Asia-Pacific.  Obama made it clear when he lifted the weapons ban on Vietnam that his agenda is to regionally maneuver to counter China’s aggressive military hold in the South China Sea.

At a news conference in Hanoi,  Monday, Obama said, “One of the things that has happened through this comprehensive partnership is a dialogue between the U.S. and Vietnamese military that we hadn’t seen in a very long time.  We already have U.S. vessels that have come here to port,” he said. “We expect that there will be deepening cooperation between our militaries.”

The U.S. Military does not seem to share Obama’s views when it comes to military cooperation with the former enemy that claimed over 58,000 U.S. soldiers lives in the Vietnam War.  Lt. Gen. Stephen Lanza (Army Lt. Gen. Stephen Lanza is commander of the Army’s I Corps and Joint Base Lewis-McChord.) responded with the following when asked about training the Vietnamese:

“Predicted on what our senior leaders want to do, I think our forces both operationally and tactically are ready to train with anybody that has an opportunity to train with U.S. forces.  I’m not speaking for the Army, let’s be clear,” he said. “We are prepared to train based on the requirements we’ve been given with the countries that have asked to train with the U.S military. So if the opportunity avails itself, we will participate based on the task and the mission we’ve been given.”

Obama believes in improving bilateral relations with Pacific Rim countries to counter China’s military fortresses that they have created on the islands they have built in the South China Sea.  One has to wonder who is advising Obama with this military strategy, to Arm and train the Vietnamese.  The continued slap to our U.S. vets and fallen soldiers is a disgrace and does not represent what the Unites States of America fought for.

As the tensions build with China, Obama’s running around unchecked and showing he is afraid of China, he seriously said the following in Hanoi on Monday, “Big nations should not bully smaller ones.”  Well played Obama, you have shown the world that the U.S. fears China and that we are so afraid, that we are willing to be friends with our former enemies.

In my humble opinion, Obama does not represent the U.S. nor its people.  The tensions in the South China Sea are a powder keg and it’s clear to me, Obama is using Vietnam as the spark.
