BREAKING: Suicide BOMBING Near U.S. Embassy Leaves At Least 8 DEAD

A powerful blast targeting an armored NATO convoy in Kabul killed at least eight people and wounds 28, including three coalition troops, close to the U.S. embassy in the Afghan capital of Kabul, officials say. ISIS has claimed responsibility.

NATO spokesman U.S. Navy Captain Bill Salvin confirmed the injuries to three soldiers. He added that the force’s armored carriers had been able to return to base having withstood the force of the explosion.

Gen. Jawid Kohistani, a former official at Afghanistan’s National Directorate Security (NDS) who closely monitors attacks, told Fox News that intelligence was received three days ago cautioning of an imminent attack against NATO forces, with more possible through the “fighting season” around diplomatic areas and guest houses.

Health Ministry Spokesman Wahid Majrouh told Al-Jazeera the injured had been moved to two nearby hospitals and that a number were in critical condition. Several of those wounded in the attack are believed to be members of Afghanistan’s National Directorate of Security, the country’s intelligence service.

Fox News reporter  says that the attacker is said to have been targeting a convoy of NATO-helmed Resolute Support vehicles close to Massoud Square in the city center, igniting at a NDS checkpoint. At least eight have died and a further 25 wounded, officials said.

A military source told Fox News the bomber pretended to be a construction worker, with tools and a uniform, and when the convoy arrived he pressed the button.
