Well, the multi-state manhunt for an escaped Alabama murder suspect, Casey Cole White, and high-ranking jail guard Vicky White, came to a close on Monday – more than 10 days after the pair fled from the county jail where the man had been awaiting trial, according to officials.

FOX NEWS reports that officers from the federal and local levels descended upon Casey White and Vicky White in Evansville, Indiana, on Monday afternoon prompting a short-lived police chase that resulted in a car crash and injuries to both fugitives. Both suspects were in custody and were being treated for their injuries, officials said. Vicky was hospitalized with “very serious” injuries from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, Indiana law enforcement authorities confirmed.

Lauderdale County Sheriff Rick Singleton said “We got a dangerous man off the street today. He is never going to see the light of day again.”

Vanderburgh County, Indiana, Sheriff Dave Wedding told reporters law enforcement became aware of a vehicle matching the description of a possible suspect vehicle, which had been spotted near the sheriff’s department office, on Monday.

Officers and federal agents went to investigate and “soon thereafter, the male and female fled in the vehicle,” Wedding said. He said Vicky White was driving and described the vehicle as a Cadillac.

The suspects then drove through a grassy area where marshals “intercepted the actually collided with them, to try to end the pursuit,” Wedding went on.

“When this occurred, the female driver of the vehicle shot herself and the passenger was injured, not too seriously,” he said. “They’ve both been taken to local hospitals to be examined for their injuries.”

100 Percent FED Up reports that on the day of the escape, Vicky claimed she was taking Casey for a mental health evaluation at the courthouse. It was later discovered that there was no evaluation scheduled for that day, but due to Vicky’s good standing among her coworkers, no one thought to doubt her.

In fact, Vicky had the reputation of being an “exemplary employee” with an “unblemished record.”

“If she did this willingly, and all indications are that she did. I guess we’re trying to hold on to that last straw of hope that maybe for some reason she was threatened and did this under coercion… but absolutely you’d feel betrayed,” said Lauderdale County Sheriff Rick Singleton.
Singleton added that when news broke of the escape, Vicky’s co-workers were “devastated.” “We’ve never had any situation like this with Vicky White. She was a model employee,” Singleton said.

The couple was on the run for about two weeks and were finally apprehended Monday afternoon in Evansville, Indiana, where they reportedly hid out for six days.

After the manager of a car wash in Indiana spotted Casey, US Marshals obtained the surveillance footage and saw someone who looked like Casey washing a Ford F-150 truck. After the agency confirmed that it was, in fact, the fugitive Casey White, law enforcement officers descended on the town.

Casey White, 38, was charged with two counts of capital murder in September 2020 in the brutal stabbing of 58-year-old Connie Ridgeway. He was already serving time for a 2015 crime spree that involved home invasion, carjacking, and a police chase. White confessed about the murder and was awaiting trial at the Lauderdale County Jail when he disappeared.

He has a long rap sheet, with convictions for attempted murder, armed robbery, animal cruelty and kidnapping, and was facing a pending murder case for the 2015 slaying of Ridgeway.

The suspect allegedly confessed to the crime, saying he had been hired to kill Ridgeway, but then pleaded not guilty due to insanity. He could face the death penalty if convicted.

Vicky White was facing charges including at least forgery, identity theft and permitting/aiding an escape. Prior to the manhunt, she spent months telling colleagues that she planned to relocate to the beach.

But she has passed away.

So, that’s it.

He will spend the rest of his life behind bars and she will be buried 6 feet down in the ground.

Pretty insane.
