BREAKING: Tornadoes Flatten Indiana Towns As Storms Sweep The State… Please Send Prayers

By Sassy Liberty AMERICA’S FREEDOM FIGHTERS

There is nothing quite like seeing your hometown go scrolling across your newsfeed on social media to see it has been hit by a tornado. That’s what happened to me today.

A tornado ripped through the small city of Kokomo, Indiana where I grew up for the first 19 years of my life. There were the panicked phone calls to my parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and various close friends I had grown up with. Cell towers were down and phone calls weren’t easy to get through.

As a result, I turned to Facebook.  Facebook Messenger was able to allow me to communicate with family and friends to find out all is well.  Lots of property damage, but no one was hurt and no loss of life, and after all that is THE most important thing.

Multiple tornadoes actually hit Indiana and Ohio today.  The area is STILL under a tornado watch and anyone that knows anything about tornado season knows that to get an actual tornado in AUGUST is HIGHLY unusual.

This weather was clearly a surprise for all. It tore down structures of all sorts and forced entire towns to shut down. The Starbucks located off of the 931 Bypass through Kokomo was completely flattened.

All employees and customers that were located within the store sought shelter in the restrooms.  After the storm was done wrecking havoc, those restrooms were the only things left standing.  Those folks are thanking the good Lord above to still be here with us right now, I’m sure. There was also significant damage to dozens of homes and businesses.

Kokomo bore the brunt of the most significant part of the storm.  The tornado touched ground in Kokomo at approximately 3:24 p.m. and moved east at about 30 miles per hour, according to the National Weather Service. As it was in progress, a tornado emergency was declared for the twister that was described as “large and extremely dangerous” by the National Weather Service.

Authorities have declared a state of emergency and all street to the city and in Howard County  are currently closed except to emergency crews until 10:30 p.m. local time. Bartholomew, Boone, Brown, Clinton, Decatur, Delaware, Hamilton, Hancock, Hendricks, Henry, Howard, Johnson, Madison, Marion, Monroe, Morgan, Owen, Putnam, Randolph, Rush, Shelby and Tipton counties are all covered in the current tornado watch. At this time, no fatalities and only minor injuries have been reported to any person.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and business owners in Kokomo and Howard County, Indiana.
