UNREAL: MAJOR Toy Manufacturer Completely CAVES TO Islam, BOYCOTT NOW!!

A major toy manufacturer has caved to pressure to increase diversity in their products.

Mattel, who makes a variety of toys including Barbie dolls, will now be offering an Islamic version of the iconic doll, which is antithetical to everything Barbie is supposed to represent. According to CNN Money, the new doll will be decked out in full Islamic dress for women, including a hajib to cover her head, and is named after the Muslim fencer who competed in the Olympics, Ibtihaj Muhammad.

Bronze medalist and sabre competitor Ibtihaj Muhammad, 31, made headlines when she donned her hijab at the Rio Olympic games last year.

Today, she unveiled the doll Mattel made in her honor as part of its ‘Shero’ line dedicated to inspirational women, which also includes Ava DuVernay, Ashley Graham, who hosted the doll’s debut in New York City, Misty Copeland, and Gabby Douglas.

Ibtihaj posed with the doll at Glamour’s Women of the Year Live Summit, and later raved about her Barbie’s debut.

“Thank you @Mattel for announcing me as the newest member of the @Barbie #Shero family! I’m proud to know that little girls everywhere can now play with a Barbie who chooses to wear hijab! This is a childhood dream come true  #shero

Praise: Ibtihaj took to Twitter to thank the brand for making her 'childhood dream come true'

“We are so excited to honor @IbtihajMuhammad with a one-of-a-kind #Barbie doll! Ibtihaj continues to inspire women and girls everywhere to break boundaries. #Shero #YouCanBeAnything#GlamourWOTY

It’s also worth noting that Muhammad has been a vocal critic of President Trump ever since he decided to run for office.

“Friends don’t let friends like Trump”

“Help #MakeAmericaGreatAgain! Trump wants Muslims to report, so let’s all report straight to the polls! Hate is no match for us #RocktheVote

While we can all appreciate the athletic abilities of Muhammad, we also shouldn’t forget that Barbie dolls have been a cultural icon for decades, with many young girls using her as a role model and attempt to emulate her. Given Islam’s horrible record when it comes to the treatment of women, it’s probably not the best idea to have a doll celebrating the universal symbols of oppression found within the religion.

Despite this, Mattel still decided that creating the Islamic Barbie would be a good idea. Hint: it’s not.

Women are treated horribly under Islamic rule, with nations like Saudi Arabia and Iran forbidding them from driving, leaving the house without male chaperones, or making important decisions without a man’s consent, just to list off a few injustices. Further, they’re required to completely cover their skin at all times, and even moderate forms of Islam require women to cover their hair while out in public, as Muhammad’s hijab demonstrates.

So for an American company to embrace these oppressive ideals isn’t only troubling, it’s normalizing traditions that are antithetical to our values of equality and empowerment for all. While Mattel has the right to manufacture whatever kind of toys they’d like, they certainly better not be surprised when people simply stop purchasing their products.

After all, there’s probably not many American parents who want to have to explain to their daughters why a Barbie doll – once the symbol of women’s liberation and empowerment – is now sporting symbols of women’s oppression.
