Gowdy as a prosecutor is a thing of beauty to watch as he swoops in for the kill as there is simply no mercy – he plays no games and there is no legal word games.  He speaks plain English and he is a force to be reckoned with.

As a former federal prosecutor, Gowdy possesses law enforcement credentials so he is uniquely positioned to lead the FBI after James Comey’s high-profile firing earlier this week.

Gowdy’s office confirmed that they had received a call from the administration of Donald Trump earlier this week asking whether he was interested in becoming the next director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Gowdy’s answer was a resounding YES! According to multiple sources, the fourth-term congressman confirmed his interest in the position to the White House. At this point, it is not a job offer.  It is merely the first step in gauging Gowdy’s interest in the position.

Among some of the others being considered for the position are Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn (R-Texas), Former Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Mich.), New York City Police Commissioner Ray Kelly, Assistant Attorney General Alice Fisher, and acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe.

Speculation regarding Gowdy has been all over the place lately.  Last year, many Republicans and Conservatives in the South Carolina General Assembly had hoped he would consider becoming a candidate for chief justice with the state’s Supreme Court.  There had also been rumors of him running for lieutenant governor of South Carolina on a ticket with U.S. Senator Tim Scott.

It looks like with the potential for the head of the FBI coming into play? Gowdy’s plans may have just changed.
