BREAKING: President Issues Ultimatum

The markets turned south today when Republican neocons were unable to find common ground with the freedom caucus have once again postponed the vote on the bill meant to dismantle the Obama Administration’s bloated healthcare program.

Working overtime, representatives of the White House have been trying to keep this boat afloatsomething that should be House Speaker Ryan’s job — as they struggle to pack in votes.

Busy In D.C.

Press Secretary Sean Spicer for his part took to the O’Reilly Factor to weigh in on the official position of Pennsylvania Ave:

“My understanding is he’s going to get it,” White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer said on “The O’Reilly Factor.”
“We’re hoping to make this the last anniversary that any American has to suffer under ObamaCare by instilling a patient-centric health care system in place, and the president has made that case to members throughout the spectrum of the Republican conference, and tomorrow, it’s time to vote,” he added.

Further, after a double postponement of a planned press conference, Speaker Paul Ryan finally faced the liberal media jackals:

“For seven and a half years we’ve been promising the American people that we will repeal and replace this broken law because it’s collapsing and failing families,” House Speaker Paul Ryan told reporters after meeting with Republican leaders. “Tomorrow we’re proceeding.”

For the president, it seems that enough is enough.  Fox News Reports that anonymous sources have told them that Mr. Trump has issued an ultimatum–that tomorrow a vote is taken, passed, and handed to the Senate–or he wants to move on to other things like tax reform:

White House officials said late Thursday President Trump wants the House to vote Friday on the legislation to begin dismantling ObamaCare, and if it fails, he is “done with healthcare,” and ready to move on to tax reform, a source told Fox News.

Art of The Deal Put Into Action: Get Moving Or Move On

This sort of strongman talk is pretty aligned with President Trump’s famous book The Art of the Deal.  Here are a couple relevant quotes:

Interestingly enough, Ann Coulter, one of the president’s biggest supporters has been an outspoken critic of the meandering handling of the healthcare reform process.  She believes that the president has been forgiving of Paul Ryan as a means of compromise for future issues that are more important.  It seems like the president might be taking such criticism to heart and has moved to crack the whip against the sluggish House Republicans by threatening to instead focus his energies on platform positions like immigration, tax reform, infrastructure spending, and trade negotiations.

Biggest House Detractors Still Sing Trump Praises

The House Rules Committee is expected to prepare the bill early Friday morning with hopes for a vote by noon.  The House Freedom Caucus Chairman Mark Meadows (R-NC) is optimistic and has been singing praises for Donald Trump’s involvement throughout the process:

“I would say progress is being made, and that progress should be applauded with the efforts by the White House to deliver on a campaign promise, and to lower premiums for every American from coast to coast and in between,” Meadows said. He also called Trump’s involvement “unparalleled in the history of our country.”
When asked if this was a loss for the president, Meadows said: “Absolutely not.”
