The latest victim of the growing controversy over the Confederate Flag is the 1980s TV series “The Dukes of Hazzard.”
A TV Land spokesperson confirmed Tuesday that the network has pulled reruns of the series from its schedule, which had been airing twice a day.
The network declined to comment on why the episodes were removed, but the southern-set show has come under fire recently for its depiction of the Confederate flag, which is emblazoned on the hood of the Duke Boys’ signature 1969 orange Dodge Charger.
But all the Black shows will remain airing. You know, where they call Whites ‘Honkies’ and crap like that.
TV Land’s decision comes amid a growing national debate over the use of the Confederate flag, which was painted on the roof of The General Lee, the orange Dodge Charger driven by the Duke boys.
One of the show’s stars, Ben Jones, who played Cooter Davenport, has come out in support of the flag.
“That flag on top of The General Lee made a statement that the values of the rural south were the values of courage and family and good times,” he wrote on Facebook last week.
Jones, who also served in Congress as a Georgia Democrat, was responding to vows from retailers Walmart, Sears, eBay, Amazon and crafts site Etsy to ban sales of Confederate flag merchandise.
The Dukes of Hazzard originally aired on CBS from 1979-1985.
This is totally outrageous! What’s next? The Andy Griffith Show? Leave It To Beaver? How about Bugs Bunny? Screw these liberal a**holes for destroying America every single way they possibly can.
God Bless. Dean James III% AMERICA’S FREEDOM FIGHTERS
