This year’s Emmy Awards promised to be the most political ever, and unfortunately it’s a promise Hollywood actually kept.

“Comedian” Stephen Colbert was this year’s host, and he proved he’s nothing more than a one-trick pony with his relentless attacks on President Trump. However, while the awards show was filled with anti-Trump commentary, the most astonishing moment of the night came just minutes into the show’s opening.

Colbert wasted no time in berating our President, which was to be expected from the far-;eft opportunist, but he took it entirely too far when he accused Trump of treason on live television.

The derangement is strong with this one.

From Entertainment Weekly:

Said Colbert: “You cannot deny every show has been influenced by Trump in some way. All the late night shows, House of CardsAmerican Horror Story, and next year’s Latin Grammys, hosted by Sherrif Joe Arpaio.”

The emcee then noted how much the Emmy Awards mean to Trump, who was nominated multiple times for the Celebrity Apprentice but never won. “Why didn’t you give him an Emmy? If he had won an Emmy, I bet he wouldn’t have run for president,” Colbert joked. “In a way, this is all your fault. I thought you people love morally compromised anti-heroes. You love Walter White. He’s Walter-much-whiter.”

“The president has complained the Emmys are rigged,” Colbert added, before playing a video from the presidential debates where Trump said in response to Hillary Clinton mocking him for claiming the Emmy Awards were fixed that he “should have gotten” an award. Then Colbert continued: “But he didn’t. Because unlike the presidency, Emmys go to the winner of the popular vote” — which got a big reaction in the room. “Where do I find the courage to tell that joke in this room?”

While that was a pretty offensive monologue, the worst part came when he showed a picture of the President and Vladimir Putin while joking that treason is “better” on television.

The Wrap has more:

Before his opening song, Colbert chatted with Anthony Anderson and Allison Janney, and she complained about the current state of the world.

The “Mom” actress mentioned global warming and fighting leaders, and joked that HBO was bringing back “the Confederacy,” a reference to the flap over HBO’s planned new drama series “Confederate.”

Moments later, Colbert sang about the virtues of television, at one point delivering the line, “Even treason’s better on TV,” as an image flashed of Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump.

The treason accusation came not even five minutes into the show, which promised to be the most political Emmys ever.

Lovely.

Last year, the Emmys were also politicized and they had the lowest viewership in the show’s history, with just 11.4 million people tuning in. The ratings for this year’s show have yet to be published; however, if the NFL’s ratings, box office sales, and other indicators that people are tired of the left politicizing everything are any indication, this year’s ratings will likely be even lower than last.

It’s just really too bad all these moonbats can’t seem to take a hint, because they’re destroying everything.
