“This is a direct response to situations that threaten freedom of navigation. These strikes show our resolve against unprovoked hostility against the U.S. and are aimed at defending U.S. Navy assets.” ~ Navy Lt. Ian McConaughey

“These limited self-defense strikes were conducted to protect our personnel, our ships and our freedom of navigation in this important maritime passageway,” Cook said. “The United States will respond to any further threat to our ships and commercial traffic, as appropriate, and will continue to maintain our freedom of navigation in the Red Sea, the Bab-el-Mandeb, and elsewhere around the world.”

If you are like most Americans, you have no idea where Yemen is yet alone why there is even a conflict and why America is patrolling the Red Sea.  I hope to clear that up for you.

The main fight is between forces loyal to the beleaguered President, Abdrabbuh Mansour Hadi, and those allied to Zaidi Shia rebels known as Houthis.

Yemen is split in forces, with some backing Hadi and other the Houthis.  The tribesman and militias in the area fight with Hadi, they are against Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula.    To complicate matters, ISIS is now very heavily fighting in the area.

Yemen is strategically important because it sits on the Bab al-Mandab strait, a narrow waterway linking the Red Sea with the Gulf of Aden, through which much of the world’s oil shipments pass.

Ah, there it is, the real truth of why America is patrolling the Red Sea and involved with the Yemen conflict, oil.

Now it is clear, the Obama administration has entered nation’s rich in oil and created “terrorist” cells that kill innocent people.  Then Obama can send in our military to fight these “terrorist cells” and then take control of the oil fields all in the name of Global Security.   Just see Obama’s recent actions in Africa.

So now we have Houthi rebels (ISIS/Al-Qaeda) firing on US destroyers and the destroyers target radar sites and eradicate them.  All in the name of Oil.
