It comes as no surprise that Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) is attempting to dismiss and discredit the highly disturbing and extremely troubling case of Imran Awan, his wife, and brothers, former Pakistani IT staffers for many Democrats in the House. Wasserman Schultz has tried to paint this entire criminal investigation as some sort of giant right-wing conspiracy while blaming Islamophobia.  It is clearly neither and evidence continues to mount of just how bad the situation is.

Now a Marine instrumental in providing key evidence in the FBI case against Awan is speaking up and he is absolutely furious at the absurd notion that Islamophobia led U.S. Capitol Police to frame the former IT aide. The Marine’s name is Andre Taggert and he was the one that alerted the FBI to the damaged hard drives as well as a large cache of electronics tied to Awan.

Awan is currently under criminal investigation, along with his wife and two relatives, stemming from allegations of suspected procurement fraud and violations of the congressional IT network, including diverting data to an off-site server.

Taggart was aghast stating “it was amazing” that Wasserman Schultz would attempt to describe Awan as some sort of victim of religious discrimination by law enforcement when it is clear nothing could be further from the truth. Taggart was a tenant of Awan at a rental property in Northern Virginia.

Taggart is a black man and a decorated Marine who describes himself as a Democrat. He is angered at Wasserman Schultz claiming discrimination against Awan when it is clearly no such thing as he believes false claims such as this devalue legitimate cases of discrimination, while also risking the national security of America and her people.

Taggart states –

“It pisses me off. I just want to get these [guys] locked up and exposed and now. The people who facilitated them should also be locked up, as far as I’m concerned. I’m absolutely disgusted with everything going on in the country right now, mostly because of right-wing conservatives, but with respect to this situation, political affiliation is irrelevant.

Him, his wife, his brother, all working down there — there’s no way they could do this without help. If we can drag Trump and his wingnuts through the mud for the Russia influence that they are having, then it’s only fair that we also expose this s–t.

Wasserman Schultz has made her audacious claim that Awan is being “persecuted” by authorities after she was told he is suspected of “data transfer violations” by both the FBI and Capitol Police.  She has repeatedly tried to minimize the seriousness of the breach of data while she was the chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee in 2016 that led to her resignation.

Taggart’s efforts have been repeatedly cited throughout the investigation, yet he himself chose to remain anonymous, until now.  He states he chose to come forward because he is gravely concerned that his fellow Democrats are not giving this matter the utmost attention it deserves and ignoring the serious criminal and national security implications to America as a whole.

Imran Awan and his wife, Hina Alvi were both indicted Aug. 17, 2017, on four separate charges related to fraudulently sending money back to their native Pakistan.  This is believed to have been done in an effort to avoid the larger and much more serious currently ongoing investigation into cyber security and theft issues stemming from their time working for many Democrats in the House of Representatives.

Evidence continues to mount against the Awans and it is believed they were running a ghost employee scheme.  This scheme allowed them to collect some $6 million in salaries from American taxpayers even though only a few of the six people on the House payroll actually performed IT work. Congressional offices signed off on those time-sheets for reasons currently unknown.

After Awan realized he had left the hard drives and electronics behind in the house Taggert rented from him, Awan threatened to sue Taggert to get the equipment back.  Awan also listed the home for sale just after signing a multi-year lease with Taggert describing a series of financially aggressive and dishonest interactions he had with Awan. He believes the Awans would do anything for money and relatives have confirmed that assessment.

Wasserman Schultz has repeatedly laughed off concerns about Awan calling them “absurd” despite all evidence to the contrary. Awan had access to all of her congressional emails and files, as well as her iPad password. He has been accused of defrauding others for financial gain many times over the years by multiple sources and is currently suspected of the same as well as cyber security violations and more.

Awan’s relative, Syed Ahmed, told The Daily Mail that “for the sake of money they would have done anything… [Imran] might have been selling this information.”

Imran Awan’s brother Abid earned an annual salary of $160,000 a year working for multiple House Democrats while at the same time operating a Virginia car dealership.  He declared bankruptcy in 2010 discharging multiple hundreds of thousands of dollars in debts. While operational, the dealership received $100,000 from an Iranian fugitive linked to Hezbollah, according to court documents filed in the bankruptcy case.

Amjad Khan, a former business partner stated –

“Abid would just go in [to the Hill] a couple times a week for a couple of hours, just to show his face. On paper, I think Abid and Imran were both working, but in reality only one was working, the other was running the car business.”

Khan also added that “when he would go to D.C., Abid would spend $3,000 or $4,000 a night.”

Abid was working for the office of Rep. Yvette Clarke (D-NY) during a time when $120,000 in IT equipment went missing from her office. Clarke’s chief of staff signed forms writing off the loss ensuring it would not be brought to the attention of congressional auditors. Police were never notified and Abid remained an active employee in her office for another six months after the loss occurred. Clarke and her staff have repeatedly refused to explain their reasons for this despite this money comprising roughly 1/10th of her office’s annual budget and enough to hire 4 staffers to provide services for her Brooklyn constituents.

In fact, Clarke did not fire Abid until September 2016 after House administrators told her that an audit of all finances connected to the Awans would be taking place.  The brothers were completely barred from the Congressional IT network four months later.
