Most people are familiar with the movie Forrest Gump and the character of Lieutenant Dan, who becomes a disabled veteran in the film. Played by the actor Gary Sinise, Lt Dan painted a picture of the struggles of a disabled vet that most who see the movie never forget. Apparently, playing the character left an impression on Sinise as well.
He is setting an example the rest of Hollywood should follow as he spends his free time performing free concerts for America’s troops and even builds houses for disabled veterans.
Hoopla caught up with the celebrity and posted their brief interview on YouTube. (See the clip below.) Here’s what Hoopla had to say about it:
“An actor’s call to duty. Gary Sinise has a long history of giving back to the men and women who defend our country through his multiple USO tours. We caught up with Forrest Gump’s Lt. Dan while he was entertaining the troops in Yuma, AZ. Find out what motivates performers like Sinise to free up their busy schedules to provide some inspiration and much needed joy to the troops. Meet this actor on a mission.”
