The White House was on lock down this morning and now one person is in police custody after reports of “suspicious activity.” The “suspicious activity” is believed to have originated along the North fence line of the 18-acre complex housing the President’s current residence.

The presidential manor was put on lock down and the area along Pennsylvania Avenue was closed following the incident.

The U.S. Secret Service have confirmed as of 9:30 A.M. that the individual is in custody though Lafayette Park and North Fence line along Pennsylvania Avenue remain closed to pedestrian traffic near the White House currently.

Reporters and staffers have been instructed not to leave the White House while the investigation is ongoing.  D.C. police have stated a suspect called in a threat this morning claiming that explosives had been planted along the North Fence line.

The incident on Friday morning is not the first time the White House has been placed on lock down since President Trump took office.  Back in September two incidents occurred within two days of one another. The first incident was due to a man throwing a sign as well as a notebook over the fence located directly on Pennsylvania Avenue.  The second incident two days later occurred due to a suspicious package.  There was also a person that jumped a bike rack along the North Fence line.  That person was taken into custody back in May.

This most recent incident occurred just minutes after President Donald Trump departed the White House on Marine One set to begin his trip to Asia.

 

President Trump was not currently on Capitol Hill when the threat was called in, and is instead on his way to Hawaii ahead of his first presidential tour of Asia.

The incident comes minutes after President Trump departed the White House on Marine One to begin his trip to Asia. His trip to Asia is said to be the longest taken by a sitting US president in more than a quarter century with the first stop in Hawaii and then stops in Japan, Korea, China, Vietnam, and the Philippines on the schedule.  The purpose of the trip is directly confront the continued threat and growing aggressive action of North Korea as Kim Jong Un continues to act in ways that could be deemed threatening to US interests and national security.

While in Asia, President Trump is also expected to confront a number of other issues including the Chinese theft of U.S. intellectual property, the U.S/Chinese trade relationship, as well as President Trump’s first in-person meeting with Filipino President Rodrigo Duterte.

The left is naturally all a flutter as there is the possibility that Vladimir Putin could be present at the same time as President Trump with both world leaders attending the APEC summit in Vietnam.
