A Georgetown, South Carolina, woman was pulled over for speeding the other night but she received a special surprise from the officer written on the bottom of the citation.

Ayla Hemeon was rushing around Georgetown with her young daughter, cramming in some last-minute weekend errands and didn’t realize she was driving over the speed limit. She was on the way to her parent’s house to give them a Halloween pumpkin that she and her daughter had carved for the elderly couple when she saw th1e dreaded flashing lights in her rear-view mirror. She explained the situation to the officer who went back to his patrol car, presumably to write her a ticket for speeding.

 

In her Facebook post Ms. Hameon shared her story.

“I was headed to my parents’ house with Tara to drop off a pumpkin we carved for them. I was in a hurry because we had to get back home so Tara could finish her homework.

I didn’t realize I was going over the speed limit until I got pulled over.

The officer asked me if there was any lawful reason why I was speeding.

I just shook my head and explained what I was doing – hurrying to drop off the pumpkin so we could get home and work on homework.

He went back to his police car and I could see him busily writing my ticket. When he came back he told me he was giving me a warning.

With a huge sign of relief, I thanked him and left. I gave the ticket to Tara and had her read it to me. Never expected it to say what it did. I can honestly say it made me tear up. This officer made my day.”

“Thanks for all that you do. You could have spent Sunday alone, but you’re spending it helping your parents and daughter. Have a good day,” the officer wrote in the comment area at the bottom of the warning notice.

How awesome is this? This officer appreciated the hard work it takes to be a good mother and daughter.
