A criminal and his friends allegedly opened fire on a group of Chicagoans outside a party Friday night. But they probably didn’t count on one of them being more than capable of firing back.

According to the Chicago Tribune, a 22-year-old woman noticed a cup of liquor on top of her car as her and three friends exited the party. She asked attendees at the party next door who it belonged to, apparently without any luck.

According to the story, the military member took cover near the car’s front fender. He fired two shots, striking Mickiel on both occasions. The group then fled in two vehicles as two people continued shooting at them.
