President Barack Obama’s out-of-control administration has unilaterally moved to ban the flying of Confederate flags at all military cemeteries, despite loud objections from Congress.

“In particular, we will amend our policy to make clear that Confederal flags will not be displayed from any permanently fixed flagpole in a national cemetery at any time,” Ronald E. Walters, under secretary for memorial affairs at the Department of Veterans Affairs, announced in a statement, according to The Washington Times.

Not surprisingly, some of Congress’s Democrat members celebrated this ruling. Take for instance Rep. Jared Huffman, a politician from California (go figure).

“While racist individuals and groups continue to embrace the Confederate battle flag, it has never been more clear that this anachronistic symbol of hatred, slavery, and insurrection should not be promoted or gratuitously displayed on federal property,” he proudly stated.

Writing for The Washington Post last summer, then-University of South Carolina student Byron Thomas, a black man, explained exactly why this line of thinking is patently false:

Four years ago, I became a national news story after I hung a Confederate flag in my dorm room window at the University of South Carolina Beaufort. Controversy wasn’t my intention. For me and many Southerners, the flag celebrates my heritage and regional pride. One of my ancestors, Benjamin Thomas, was a black Confederate cook, and I do not want to turn my back on his service to the South. So I hang the flag in honor of his hard work and dedication to South Carolina during the Civil War.

Exactly @ heritage and cultural pride.

I have personally known a bevy of individuals who celebrated the Confederate flag, and not one of them treated me in a way indicative of racial prejudice and discrimination.

Yet the members of the Obama administration, who I imagine with great confidence have never even spoken with a Confederate enthusiast, choose to assume otherwise.

And because of their willful ignorance, yet another piece of history has just been deleted …
